Project Overview

Our Gastard project involved the construction of a bespoke, multi-functional annex, thoughtfully designed to provide flexible accommodation while allowing for future adaptation. Built using a highly insulated timber frame, the structure features an impressive green oak frontage with traditional oak posts, but constructed with a truss roof, combining timeless craftsmanship with modern energy efficiency.

A key feature of the design is its versatility. The front two rooms have been engineered so they can be removed in the future, transforming the space into an open triple-bay garage without the need for major structural alterations. For now, the annex provides a spacious additional bedroom and comfortable living area, perfectly suited for family use or guest accommodation.

To the rear of the building, a generous utility and boot room is flooded with natural light from large roof lanterns, alongside a beautifully appointed ground floor shower room. The flexible layout allows the annex to function as independent accommodation for Airbnb guests or visiting family, while also providing valuable overflow space during larger family gatherings.

This project showcases our expertise in bespoke timber frame construction, traditional oak framing, and high-quality craftsmanship, delivering adaptable buildings that are designed to evolve with our clients’ changing lifestyles.
